Despite this week being shorter than my other internship weeks, I started a new and exciting project as a consequence of my request for projects similar to the timeline I completed last week. I'm currently working on editing a timeline created by another intern in my department, a junior at BU. He is working on a project about the Boston Redevelopment Authority and city planning in Boston in the 1950s and 1960s. He created an interactive timeline (link: http://whenintime.com/tl/drew.miller/boston_history/) about this subject, and I edited it. I also wrote descriptions for the various events on the timeline which required me to research and gain knowledge about the various housing projects completed and sanctioned by the BRA and the BHA (Boston Housing Authority).
In school, I went back to CAPS class to learn about how to effectively post to my website, thus creating a portfolio of my work as an intern at the MHS. We also did a seminar on email etiquette that was entertaining, though I felt that I already possessed the skills to send a professional email. Still, a reminder that acting professionally via email and other social media is essential in a modern workplace environment. I'm honestly very sad that next week will be my last week at the MHS. I feel that I've just started to work on really interesting and important projects, and I want to continue my work. At the same time, scheduling has been a nightmare! Trying to complete 25 hours a week while running back and forth to Boston from school and trying to get to my extra curricular activities has been taxing. I'm excited to be back in CAPS class to debrief and share other students' experiences about the program.
